Recently, computer vision technologies are making their way into the car industry. While most companies focus on autonomous driving, Guardian Optical Technologies from Tel-Aviv is looking inside. The company raised $3.1M round to continue the development of its in-car sensor that can monitor passengers. The system uses computer vision and machine learning algorithms on top of a custom sensor to enable safety features that are passenger specific. For example, the system can adjust the deployment force on an airbag to be optimal for the each passenger size. The team believes that their system will render some existing sensors redundant and therefore don’t expect it will add cost to manufacturing.
